David Willauer — Men’s College Basketball-The Palomar Comets at 12-4, 3-1 were defeated by the Jaguars of Southwestern College by a 78-63 score.  Michael Brandon led the Comets with 17, 16 by Zadok Wilson, 11 by Anthony Smith.  San Diego Mesa will come to the Dome at Palomar on 1-13-20 in a conference basketball contest. 
Mira Costa 73 Santa Ana 42-Sean Githens led Mira Costa with 10 points.

Former Escondido Cougar alum Khyber Kobellis scored 9 points for Cal Riverside as they defeated Cal Fullerton 65-59. 

Former Army Navy Academy alum Caleb Morris scored 12 points for the Air Force Academy as they were defeated by New Mexico Lobos 84-78.

Women Basketball

Women’s College Basketball-The Lady Comets of Palomar with their unbelievable record of 16-1 as they ride a 10 game winning streak as they defeated the Lady Griffins from Grossmont College by a 90-20 score.  Julie Saelee led the Lady Comets with 36 points, 16 by Dee Dee Valenzuela and 11 by Nikki Mayoral. Next Game for the Lady Comets will be on Wednesday, January 15th when they travel to San Diego City College for a 5 PM tipoff.  Next home game will be on Friday, January 17 as they will host Mira Costa in a 6 PM tipoff. 
Mira Costa 74 Southwestern College 54-The Lady Spartans were paced by Chyna Cochran with 30 points, 15 by Julie Iman and McKenna Stouf with 11. 

St. Joseph Academy 57 Orange Glen 38 SJA performers 22 points by Mikala Doan. 10 each by Maddie Doan and Emma Clow.

San Pasqual 60 Tri City Christian 21-Acadia Denton led the Lady Eagles with 35 points.

Classical Academy defeated Mission Bay 32-24-CA performers Faith Brinkman 12 points.


In an NFL playoff game the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 27-10.  Former Mission Hills Grizzly Fred Warner known for his aggressive defense recorded 7 tackles in the game. 

Kenny Stills former Lacosta Canyon Maverick alum made headlines for the Houston Texans as he went 3 receptions for 80 yards scored 1 touchdown of 54 yards as they fell to the Kansas City Chiefs 51-31 in the AFC Divisional Playoffs.
