Jesse: Why do they say stress can cause weight gain??
Megan: Stress is an emotion that can cause trouble. Some people use food to suppress the feeling for the temporary relief. That habit does lead to weight gain. When you are stressed the cortisol hormone raises in your body and your blood sugar levels drop. So you start to crave sugar. So you eat high sugary foods to suppress the craving. Left unaddressed and over time the extra weight then puts stress on your body. You become at risk for diabetes and high blood pressure, which makes the body work harder. Getting rid of stress is easier said than done, but at least take the steps to lower and reduce the amount.
