Jenny: I’ve had troubles with kidney stones from time to time. Nothing ever too serous but what causes them?
Megan: There is not an exact nail down cause for kidney stones but there are several factors that could increase risk or attribute to causality. Dehydration, obesity, family history, high sodium diet and/or foods that raise acidity, digestive tract issues such as IBS, or urinary tract infections. These circumstances can create an environment that does not allow your urine to prevent the crystals (kidney stones) from forming. Your urine can’t dilute them so they form and then have to eventually flush out and break down. You might be able to associate with some of these possibilities but your doctor can be the best resource for help.
