Richard: I just starting working out again and I am so sore to the point I don’t know if I should keep going or if I’m going to get hurt. Plus this doesn’t motivate me if I’m going to keep feeling this way. Granted it’s my fault for not working out in so long, but what should I do?

Megan: Your body is is shock mode, and you are waking up parts that haven’t been used in some time. Your recovery time is not going to be fun, but after about 2-3 weeks your body will realize you are ready to exercise and start responding in your favor. In the meantime, take Epsom salt baths, make sure you are hydrated, be sure to be eating enough and the right clean, healthy foods. Stretching is important and even getting a massage can help. Going for walks can help with blood flow to help with recovery. Don’t work the same body part on consecutive days to allow them to recover., and get your sleep too. Stick with it, you can do it. It does get better.
