Chris: I’m on a salad kick trying to really eat healthier and even when I go to restaurants I order one of the salads. I know that the dressings are the downfall and can wreck the whole point of eating salad, so what do you recommend for salad dressing?
Megan: You are correct that salad dressings are packed with taste because they can contain fat, sodium, and sugar in high amounts. The best answer is to make your own, use citrus like lime, lemon, or orange, or just add herbs and spices instead. This of course doesn’t sound as appealing, but even apple cider vinegar can add taste and flavor. When at a restaurant ask for oil and vinegar because that way you are in control and not using a dressing that you don’t know what the ingredients are. I usually ask for extra protein in my salads just to not feel so bland because of the dressing problem. I might be deprived of dressing but not of meat. Hope some of these tips can work for you.
