Jessica: I’m a caffeine drinker practically all day everyday. I hear mixed things, so is caffeine good or bad for you?
Megan: Most research points towards the benefits of caffeine which can improve memory, energy, and mood. It has also been linked to lowering the risk for type 2 diabetes, and can reduce the risk of some cancers and even Parkinson’s disease. Everyone has different tolerance levels for how much caffeine is okay or “bad” for them based on if it makes them anxious or interrupts sleep patterns. When stressed, drinking too much caffeine can heighten this feeling. Caffeine can have addictive qualities and one might even feel withdrawal trying to stop drinking it. All in all, caffeine is fine in moderation which is what we seem to always hear. If you are drinking it all day make sure you are drinking the same amount of water or more because it can dehydrate you.
