Angela: So my arms bother me and I’ve been told you can’t spot train areas to focus on just them to get rid of fat. Is that true?
Megan: There is truth to this advice because we know (probably many of us by experience) that you can do a million crunches and not see your stomach improve. There are ways to tailor workouts to target certain areas. The idea is that you want to focus and send more blood flow to the area which helps the area burn more fat efficiently. So if you wanted to target more of the arms you would want to do higher repetitions and high intensity cardio. This could be interval training, hill repeats, or sprints. As you can see the cardio might not “spot train” the arms but in general helps to burn fat so this workout combination would be an effective approach to your goal. We know that nutrition is also a factor in all of this.
