Elizabeth: I don’t sleep much and seem to be fine if I just use my weekends to catch up on missed sleep. But I’ve heard this isn’t good for you?
Megan: Sleep is the body’s recovery time, digestion time, repair time, and break from working and working for you. Not allowing your body to do this can lead to your brain being fuzzy such as memory loss or feeling in a fog. You also are putting yourself at higher risk for diabetes and weight gain unless you are not eating at all during the night and avoiding extra calories that you might snack on while you are awake. Your body operates on a schedule and clock too. Catching up on sleep is only an indication that your body eventually is so tired you are able to sleep for extra long hours. Get a little every night if you can and give your body the chance to function better for you.
