Marie Waldron, State Assemblymember –More than 10 million people are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States each year.

October has been dedicated Domestic Violence Awareness Month to draw attention to this horrendous crime and to continue efforts to stop the violence.

This legislative session I was proud to support SB 273 which increased the statute of limitation for serious domestic violence crimes from 3 years to 5 years and SB 1276 which made it easier for a domestic violence shelter to qualify for state grant funding.

If you or someone you know is being abused, confidential support and resources are available.

Please visit the National Domestic Violence Hotline or call 1-800-799-SAFE.
