Sacramento, CA – In response to Gov. Gavin Newsom’s budget unveiling today, Assembly Republican Leader Marie Waldron issue the following statement:

“California’s problems continue to worsen, despite years of increased government spending and headline-grabbing announcements. This budget doesn’t fundamentally solve the many problems facing Californians. The government is being judged by results, not by big announcements, and the results Californians are seeing throughout their communities are persistent unemployment, shuttered businesses, closed schools, homelessness, rising violent crime and government dysfunction in the state’s unemployment system and the DMV. We need to get back to the basics. If the government can’t perform the core functions well, how can we expect it to do anything else effectively?”

Assemblymember Marie Waldron, AD 75, 350 W 5th Avenue #110, Escondido, CA 92025 – Phone: 760-480-7570
