Marie Waldron, State Assemblymember — As winter storms impact much of California, including parts of San Diego County, road closures and driving hazards are on the rise. Since Christmas, Caltrans has deployed 1,350 field staff working in 24-hour shifts to keep our roads open.
With more rain on the way, some roads in our rural district can become dangerous to drive on. It is critical to practice extra precaution while driving on roads slick from recent rains.
Snow is also expected in Palomar Mountain and Julian, which will generate a substantial increase in traffic as residents travel from around the County to enjoy the snowy weather!
Before you hit the road this Winter, visit the Caltrans QuickMap to get the most up-to-date information on road conditions, closures, traffic reports, and snow chain requirements, as well as Winter Safe Driving Tips!
