Call to Artists For The Paseo Santa Fe III Roundabout

Vista, CA — The City of Vista’s Public Arts Commission is pleased to announce a Call for Artists for a sculpture to be located in the Paseo Santa Fe downtown district. The selected sculpture will be located in the center of the roundabout being constructed at the intersection of South Santa Fe Ave. and Pala Vista Dr. The selected artist will receive a commission of $25,000. Artist will pay for the construction/installation of the foundation and be responsible for installation of artwork. If selected, artist must submit structural details to obtain a no-fee Building permit.

Suggestions for possible subject matters are a depiction of Vista’s history, climate, or culture. Submissions are limited to a maximum of 3 per artist.

Please submit a 3D model (1 inch – 1 foot) of the proposed design and attach it to a 12”W x12”L x ½” H square mounting board. A scaled drawing with the model to show how the art piece fits in the roundabout must also be submitted. A resume with CD’s or photo images of the artist’s previous work is required. Digital submissions are encouraged, but not required. Digital submissions must be in .jpg format with a file size not to exceed 1 megabyte per image. There is a limit of six images per e-mail. Please also submit a budget that includes all costs (material, labor, structural engineering, installation, permit processing, and estimate of maintenance to upkeep art piece), along with a description of anticipated maintenance cycle.
