DUI Checkpoint- San Marcos – Update

Deputies of the San Marcos Sheriff’s Station conducted a driving under the influence/ driver’s license checkpoint on August 19, 2016 in the 100 block of W. Mission Road, in the city of San Marcos.

Results of the DUI Checkpoint Total Cars through the Checkpoint:

  • 470 Total Cars into the Checkpoint:
  • 272 Cars Sent to Secondary for Evaluation:
  • 29 D.U.I Evaluations: 5 D.U.I. Alcohol and Drug Combo Arrests:
  • 1 D.U.I Drug Arrests:
  • 1 Other Arrest : 1 (Manufacturing false registration tabs) In addition, there were a total of 9 vehicles impounded.

There were 4 vehicles impounded for driving on a suspended driver’s license, 3 for the driver being arrested, 1 for expired registration over 6 months and 1 for an underage driver having a .01% or greater Blood Alcohol Content.

There were 24 citations issued for various violations including driving without a license, driving on a suspended license, possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, possession of marijuana in a vehicle, child safety seat violations, littering and no vehicle insurance.

The DUI/ Driver’s license checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Report Drunk Drivers – Call 9-1-1.
