Pushing for Reopening
Budget Hearing, Tomrorow!
Tomorrow, the San Diego County Supervisors will finalize the 2020-21 budget. My budget requests include funding for critical infrastructure projects, including traffic signals and intersection improvements, which will ensure driver and pedestrian safety and reduce first-responder travel times.
Valley Center: I’m asking for $4 million for Valley Center Park improvements. Through the LAFCO process, the VC parks district has asked to be dissolved and brought into the County Parks system. If LAFCO dissolves the district, VC parks would receive $4 million infusion of improvements.
Rancho Santa Fe: I’m asking for $10 million for road improvements in Rancho Santa Fe. Roundabouts were approved in 2016, but haven’t been started. Thousands of cars a day idle at stop signs on Del Dios Highway and Rancho Delicious roads. The roundabouts are supported by the Rancho Santa Fe Fire Protection District for safety and fire reasons.
Vista: I’m asking for $5.4 million for Vista road improvement projects. The current traffic and transit situation at the Buena Creek and South Santa Fe intersection at the Sprinter stop is untenable. This is primarily due to the lack of interchange improvements when the Sprinter station was built. The Vista Fire Chief came to my office and expressed concerns with critical service calls and response times in that area due to gridlock at this intersection.
San Diego Libraries
Starting today, all County Library branches will be shifting to walk-up door-side service. Customers will no longer have to make an appointment to pick up their library materials. You’ll now receive notices by email, phone, or mail letting you know when your items are ready for pickup.
