New “Kindness Meter” brings a new way to pay it forward this holiday season and will help MCF raise $30,000 by the end of the year

VISTA, CA – December 2015 – On Tuesday, December. 8, before the council meeting, guests gathered at Vista’s Civic Center for the presentation of Moonlight Cultural Foundation’s (MCF) newly acquired “Kindness Meter.” The meter will serve as another fundraising option for donations to help MCF raise $30,000 by Dec. 31, 2015 to reach the organization’s year-end $1 million fundraising goal.

Proceeds will support MCF’s programs, including Moonlight Stage Productions and Moonlight Youth Theatre. The “Kindness Meter” was donated by North County Philanthropist, Carlton Lund, who is the visionary of Kindness Meter Charities and owner of The Lund Team. The meter is a 35th anniversary gift from Lund with the help of Jeff Pashby, MCF board member and senior sales associate at The Lund Team.

“The ‘Kindness Meter’ instills an easy mode of giving and teaches our young and old, the joy of giving and being kind,” said Lund. “Remember, there is no small act of kindness!”

In 2015, MCF provided more than $254,000 in marketing support and $45,000 to support specific requests such as actor and orchestra subsidies and gas stipends. During the event, MCF executive director, Toria Watson, and MCF board president, Jane Mitchell, presented a check to the City of Vista for $177,000 to maintain the quality productions and incredible experience of the venue. Together, MCF’s total support this year was more than $481,000.

“At Moonlight Cultural Foundation, we believe that theatre is for everyone, and that it does not begin and end with the rise and fall of the curtain,” says Toria. “We hope that our supporters realize the tremendous impact their generosity has in our community and thank them for helping to make spirits soar all season long.”

Guests who attended enjoyed a reception with Christmas carols performed by Moonlight Youth Theatre’s holiday show choir. They sang a compilation of crowd-favorites, including “Winter Wonderland,” “Let it Snow” and “The Christmas Waltz.”

Every cent counts and any donation helps. For instance, a $125 donation can go toward a military family 4-pack of tickets or an educator and school children pack of tickets; a $500 donation can help house an actor for a production or an $800 donation can be put toward props for a show.
