Encinitas, CA –Seven men were arrested following a human trafficking prostitution sting in the North County. Deputies with the North Coastal Sheriff’s Station Community Oriented Policing Team conducted the five-hour operation on Tuesday, November 17th to help reduce the demand for sex trafficking in the City of Encinitas.

Deputies communicated with prospective sex buyers online. The men were arrested when they arrived at the agreed-upon meeting location.

Prostitution is not a victimless crime. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) one in six endangered runaways reported are likely victims of sex trafficking. The victims to these crimes are often subjected to not only severe forms of emotional, physical and sexual abuse at the hands of their trafficker but are also frequently physically and sexually assaulted by those that solicit them for prostitution.

The San Diego County Sheriff’s Department along with the San Diego Human Trafficking Task Force are committed to disrupt and dismantle sex trafficking rings operating within the county. During the operation, deputies contacted and arrested seven men on misdemeanor prostitution charges.

The following were processed at the North Coastal Station and released with a written promise to appear in court:
Jorge Ignacio Garcia (3/2/1993)
