Sunrise Vista Kiwanis Club Celebrates Tommy Thomson

Vista, CA –Nadine Kaina — This special weekly, meeting of the Sunrise Vista Kiwanis Club, conducted by President Brad Wiscons, had two celebrations. 

Chairman-Chuck Scarsboro. presented the Students of the month, the two recognized -from North County Trade Tech High School -Videl Real, he was not present and North County Academy – James Woodard, was present, along with his proud mother, Alicia. 

In attendance were over 30 members and guests to hear the speaker, Tim Cummings of Vista, who has written many books on the life of Winston Churchill, describing important events in Churchill’s life.

Tommy Thomson

A celebration of membership for 55 years with perfect attendance at Kiwanis meetings, was Tommy Thomson.  Following the guidelines of attending meetings, whether in other states due to vacation or events everywhere.  Raub Mathias and Tommy started the local club, in 1973.  Serving as president, District President, chairman of various committees, making sure the club served the Vista community and he was – “always there”. Tommy explained – “Five years ago, the club was challenged to be a “model club” by raising dollars for the Eliminate Program, that will end in September and hoped to raise a dollar amount of $1100 with a now total of $1600. In part promoted by then club President, Carl Ames and wife, former club president, Carol Brady Ames and the Sunrise Vista club membership of 40.  He closed by telling all, “Roll with the tide and do the best you can. “President Brad announced visitors are welcome to the 7am- 8:15 am, breakfast meeting held at the Mariscos Rancho Grande Restaurant, 825 Williamston Street, For more information or with questions contact President Brad –[email protected] or 760-505-0495.
