Our Harvest Dinner starts off with a Guided Tour of Sand n Straw with Rich & April, followed by Cocktail Hour and a scrumptious 4-Course Farm to Table Dinner prepared by Chef Jason Baker paired with fabulous wines from 2Plank Vineyards and a live acoustic soul performance by Iron Sage Wood to enhance the evening.
Event price ($290) includes 2 seats at the table. You are welcome to add people to your party and can have up to 8 at one table. Due to Covid-19 we are only seating people with their party. Tables are already being reserved, don’t wait too long as we have a limited number of tables at each dinner.
Our dinners are a great way to support 5 local businesses: Sand n Straw Community Farm, Flavor Affinity, Iron Sage Wood, 2 Plank Vineyards & Allie’s Party Rentals! Proceeds from this event will help us continue to enhance the farm and expand our educational programs for children and adults alike.
ABC’s To Starting a Garden Series: 2 Sessions
April 10th & May 15th
Wanting to start a garden but not sure where to start? Or have you always bought your garden plants and ready to start from seed? Come join us and learn how to start a garden from seed.
We’ll be going over soils and alternatives to potting soil, and more in Session I.
In Session II, we will be focusing on what to do after the garden is planted including maintenance and harvesting.
Earth Week Soap Making Workshop
What better way to celebrate Earth Week than to learn the lifetime skill of making your own non-toxic, natural soaps! This class includes hands on experience making cold pressed soap from start to finish utilizing herbs and botanicals, recipes and a soap bar to take home.
Scarf Bundle Dye Workshop
Come learn how to use flowers, plants, and elements from the earth to botanically dye silk. At this workshop, you will learn about different dye plants within the community and how to consciously forage and use these plants to create beautiful, sustainable, and wearable pieces.
$55 includes all materials and silks.
Natural Handmade Balm Workshop
Come and learn something new!
Balms and Salves help hands, lips and feet stay moisturized and happy.
They are also great for bumps and aches!
In this class you will learn how to make a balm from scratch with oils, herbal extracts, infusions and essential oils to use for your wellbeing. This is a fun class hands on, set in a safe outdoor environment, with a recipe and a pot of balm to take home. We will also discuss how to make a herbal extract, which you can try out at home using plants from your garden.
Family Animal Experience-
We offer Farm Animal Experiences for a limited number of families each Wednesday & Saturday allowing families to go into our sheep and baby goat pens, as well as our sweet Julianna pig, Opal. You will also be able to feed our other pigs, bunnies, ducks & chickens. We will have these appts at 11:30 am and 2:30 every Wednesday & Saturday.
Due to covid restrictions we will have 4 families will be in the animals at a time with a maximum of 5 people per family.
New openings for Young Pioneers Program
Tuesday AM (Ages 3-8) & Tuesday PM (Ages 6-10)
Young Pioneers is a weekly hands-on program for preschool through elementary-aged children. It includes exploration, learning, play, and risk-taking, all while in nature. Young Pioneers will help kids develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually by connecting them back to the soil. Our program will be utilizing Rutabaga Education & forest school principles as well as other resources. Our trained instructors will lead small group activities around the Farm. This includes time in the garden and kitchen with opportunities to explore nature and have fun with the farm animals, art and other activities on The Farm.
We will be continuing Young Pioneers thru July, take August off and then start up again in September. We are considering a few weeks of Summer Camps, please let us know if you would be interested in half day summer camps on the farm.

Braised Cabbage with Bacon
Return Jars for 50¢ credit!
We are preparing to pickle and jam once the crops start coming in this Spring/Summer, however, there still remains nationwide shortage on jars. If you still have our 12, 16 or 32 oz jars, from last season, you can return them for a 50 cent credit per jar at the Farm Stand. We will wash, sterilize and use for this upcoming season. You do not need to return the lid, we will utilize new lids.
