2nd Annual Scarecrow ContestThrough Oct. 28, Downtown Oceanside MainStreet Oceanside is partnering with Oceanside Coastal Neighborhood Association to bring you the 2nd Annual Scarecrow Contest! Downtown businesses and residents are encouraged to enter but must be registered to win prizes. Registration is FREE and open through Oct. 19, and judging will take place Oct. 27-28. FIND OUT MORE

Dia de los Muertos ContestThrough Oct. 28, Downtown Oceanside Coinciding with the 2nd Annual Scarecrow Contest, MainStreet Oceanside and Friends of Oceanside Dia de los Muertos are hosting the first Dia de los Muertos Contest! Create Public ArtThurs.-Tues., Don Myers Stained Glass, 1025 S. Coast Highway Local stained glass artist and muralist Don Myers has continued to work on the Ocean Glass Mosaic Mural, the fourth mural of the Art That Excites program, despite the COVID-19 pandemic. He is now inviting the community back into his workshop to help complete the mural panels. Volunteer participants can make a reservation for socially distanced sessions by calling 760-439-6200. Shore Shot Shooting Simulator Nanpor Security Academy is opening Shore Shot Shooting Simulator at 603 Mission Ave. next door to its current location in Downtown Oceanside. Phillip V. Hughey, retired 21-year U.S. Marine Corps veteran and operator of Nanpor since its founding in 1985, will also operate Shore Shot. The community is invited to attend an open house of the immersive simulated shooting range and receive 30 minutes of simulator time free through Sunday, Oct. 4.
