First Friday Art Walk July 7, Artist Alley Oceanside Celebrate our thriving arts and culture scene from 4-8 p.m. next Friday in Artist Alley Oceanside, outside the Oceanside Public Library, and in surrounding areas. This free, family-friendly event is produced by the Oceanside Friends of the Arts in support of arts-related activities in Oceanside. Downtown History Walk July 8, 300 North Coast Highway Take a tour with the Oceanside Historical Society next Saturday and learn the historical significance of local homes, churches, banks, three Irving J. Gill buildings, the Oceanside Pier and bandshell, and a variety of other sites. Beginning at 9 a.m., the 2-hour, 1.5-mile history walk tour is free (donations accepted) and open to everyone, and is pleasantly paced so folks of all ages can participate. “The 1965 Duke Kahanamoku Invitational Surfing Championship” July 12, California Surf Museum Twenty-four of the world’s best surfers competed in perfect 10-12 surf in the first annual Duke Kahanamoku Invitational Surfing Championship. See the film screening of the 1965 TV coverage directed by Larry Lindberg, a pioneer in sports television coverage in the 1960s and the first to package and produce televised surf competition for major national TV networks. Ready, Set, Register! Now, Online The O’side Turkey Trot is back and registration is now open! Last year, the event drew nearly 8,000 participants and raised $25,000 for local North County charities. Moonlight Paddle at the Harbor July 1, Oceanside Harbor The Oceanside Parks and Recreation Division is offering this exciting program on Saturday where guests will get the chance to enjoy the beauty and romance of Oceanside’s Harbor under the moonlight! The 2-hour kayak tour will start with a short informational skills session at 7 p.m. held at the Oceanside Outdoor Aquatic Recreation Building. All supplies will be provided. Oceanside Fireworks Show July 3, SoCal Soccer Complex, 3300 El Corazon Celebrate Oceanside’s 135th birthday on Monday with the annual fireworks show! Gates open at 5 p.m. with great family-friendly activities, followed by live musical entertainment at 7 p.m., and the fireworks show at 9 p.m. Bring a picnic or grab a bite to eat from one of the onsite food trucks. Free and paid parking will be available; public transportation is encouraged to the nearby Rancho Del Oro Sprinter Station. FIND OUT MORE

BACK IN DOWNTOWN OCEANSIDE

gO’side Electric Shuttle Officially returning on Monday, July 3, the five-passenger shuttles will run Monday-Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. and Thursday-Sunday from 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Shuttles can be hailed by downloading the “Ride Circuit” smartphone app and choosing “Oceanside” as the location. A flat fare of $3 per rider will be charged via the app, with a cap of $6 for groups of two or more riders. FIND OUT MORE
