Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation (AHLF)

This video shows the vast numbers of swallows beginning to build their nests in the eaves of the Discovery Center building in Carlsbad. The swallows are expected to be here until mid August, they will have two rounds of chicks before they migrate back down south to Mexico. The best time to see the swallows is in the morning and early evening, when they are most active.

Pedal to Petal-What: Visit the Agua Hedionda Lagoon Foundation Discovery Center and view native flowering plants in our extensive Native Plant Garden! Complete an informative and educational scavenger hunt on the grounds of the Discovery Center looking for native flora and discover the beauty of some of our flowering plants in bloom from March 1^st – May 8^th, 2022. If you complete the scavenger hunt, receive 10% off a matching t-shirt featuring some of the flowering plants branded with our AHLF logo and Pedal to Petal.  When: March 1^st – May 8^th, 2022. Discovery Center Hours are 9am – 4pm Monday – Saturday; Sunday Noon – 4pm. (*some closures and restrictions in hours may occur, please check website at aguahedionda.org or call 760-804-1969 for the most up to date hours).

Pit Stop on Bike to Work Day
Bike to Work Day is back on May 19th and AHLF is a registered pit stop!
Ride over to the DC for free coffee, water, and a backpack. Participants will get entered in a raffle to receive a Mizu personal urban silverware set and mug.
Theme: Be careful of critters on the road! Our Center houses critters often injured by cars: raptors, tortoises, snakes, and lizards. All of these animals can be seen here, most are natives, some are not.

Arbor Day Celebration ~ April 29th
Be a foster family for our seedlings and help fight Climate Change! We are looking for 30 volunteers to foster Torrey Pine seedling(s) until the fall planting season. We are planting 10 small Torrey Pine on Arbor Day at the Discovery Center. Please email George if you are interested in fostering a seedling!
