Oceanside, CA – On Tuesday, 11/14/2023, Small Business Owner, MiraCosta Professor, and lifelong O’Sider Amber Kae Niuatoa formally announced her candidacy for Oceanside City Council District 4.
Amber Kae said, “As a lifelong O’sider and District 4 resident since 2003, I understand the intersectionality of issues within our city. I will tackle our housing concerns, environmental challenges, small business development, and infrastructure. I’m running to be the voice for our underrepresented communities, such as our seniors, veterans, working-class and low-income communities, the LGBTQI+ community, people with disabilities, and people of diverse cultural backgrounds.”
Amber Kae lives in Oceanside with her two children. They attend local public schools. She earned an associate’s from MiraCosta College and a bachelor’s and Master’s in Sociology from Cal State San Marcos.
The City Council is currently missing an understanding of how their decisions affect well-being and quality of life at the individual level. Amber Kae’s degree in Sociology allows her to understand the interconnectedness between individual O’Siders and institutions influenced by the City Council. For more than a decade, Amber Kae has owned a small yoga and wellness business. She understands the setbacks small business owners face, whether they are street vendors or brick-and-mortar small business owners.
The Oceanside City Council holds elections on November 5, 2024. The more support early on, the more Amber Kae can directly reach O’siders in District 4.
