Sad news.  The building is in escrow and the new owner wants to gut the building and turn it into a restaurant.  Having ArtBeat in downtown Vista is important and we hope we can find a new location in Historical Vista.  We heard a rumor tonight that they may go into the Dura Paint location.

  1. John says:

Art Beat is important to Vista and the region! How about the old hardware location on S. SANTA FE? Any body check that site’s availability?

  2. Pamela Becraft says:

Since when are rumors fit news for publication?
I’m sitting here at Artbeat, and am an employee…so, where did you hear this rumor?

  3. Judy Pantazo says:

Very sad news. Such a vibrant part of the downtown area.

  4. Yes, Art Beat needs to stay in Vista.
Kait Matthews has done a tremendous job pulling together this vibrant venue for art!
There are spaces available downtown – like the former Gil’s Feed that was reconfigured when the Paseo traffic circle was put in, and then a brewery couldn’t take it because the water line was too small.
