Liz: My stomach feels hard and it isn’t normal. I do eat healthy and exercise but what causes having a hard stomach?
Megan: If your stomach feels hard or almost swollen it may be from a food intolerance. There could be a number of causes such as carbonated drinks, overeating, constipation, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), diverticulosis, or gastritis. Diagnosis can be tricky but if problems persist it is important to see a doctor or even a gastroenterologist. Start by looking at foods you are eating and noticing after effects. Keep a food journal. If cutting something out isn’t helping, give the doctor a call. If you are having pain, cramping, or nausea, don’t ignore your body trying to speak to you.
