Sheila: For weight loss, is it better to count calories macros?
Megan: The advantage to counting macros is that it takes into nutritional consideration the nutrients your body needs whereas calorie counting might help you eat less, but it does matter what you eat. For example a small bag of chips has the same calories as an apple. Obviously the apple is healthier but if I were strictly looking at the calorie comparison I wouldn’t think about the fat in the chips. If you can do a little bit of both counting and macros, your choices will be better overall.
