Barb: I’m diabetic but I do like fruit. I shouldn’t have much sugar so which fruits should I avoid?
Megan: Fruit does have natural sugar but your body recognizes sugar all the same. Therefore, steer clear of mangoes, grapes, cherries, pears, watermelon, figs, and bananas. Stick to avocados, raspberries, cantaloupe, papaya, and strawberries if you really want fruit because the contain much less sugar than other types. Monitor your blood sugar levels and always consider what other sugar you have eaten already in addition to the fruit you have.
