
Barbara: Is the elliptical or stationary bike better for cardio?
Megan: Both these choices are good low-impact cardio selections. They’re easier on the knees than other forms of cardio. However, the benefit of the elliptical is that it is going to work your entire body as you move both your arms and legs. For that reason, it also gets your heart rate up higher. You would need to enhance your workouts on the stationary bike such as doing intervals or adding resistance to simulate hills. This can also be beneficial to do on the stationary bike. All of this depends on your fitness level and any limitations your body may have. I’d say the winner is the elliptical if I were to choose one over the other.
