Katy: My arthritis, especially my knees, ache at night. They also ache during the day from time to time. What would help better, ice or heat, to subside the ache?
Megan: When it comes to arthritis, heat is the answer. Heat will ease stiffness, relax muscles, and will lubricate joints. This is because heat increases blood flow. Using a heating pad on your knees or using a heated blanket can help. Even sitting in a hot tub or sauna can do the trick. Be mindful of not burning the skin, so only apply the heat for short bouts of time.
