Matt: My parents always used to tell me not to sit so close to the T.V. it will mess up my eyes. Now I do the same and tell my kids to sit so close. Does sitting close to the T.V. cause eye damage?
Megan: Anytime we are looking at screens, we can strain our eyes. This could be from sitting too close or at a certain angle. You might get a headache, get blurry vision, or feel eye pain after looking at a screen for an extended period of time. You do want to make sure not to look at the screen frequently in dark settings. Taking breaks is important too. Eye strain doesn’t leave permanent damage or make you go blind, but anytime you strain any part of your body, you are putting yourself at risk for damage that accumulates over time. People who sit close to screens may actually have eye sight problems and should get this checked out.
