Jill: I have asthma and it got worse after having Covid-19. Can exercise improve asthma?

Megan: Yes, exercise can be beneficial to persons with asthma. Airway function can improve because the muscles that support breathing muscles become better trained and stronger. Lung health does improve over time with physical activity. It is like giving your lungs more practice. Of course performing exercise at an appropriate level and suitable type is important. Exercise has the ability to improve blood flow to the heart and even the lungs, build and improve stamina and endurance with breathing. increase lung capacity, and decrease airway inflammation.
