NK Towing: January, Business of the Month

Most of us have had the unfortunate experience of having to call for emergency service when our car breaks down beside the road. When the tow truck arrives it’s like being rescued after being lost in the wilderness.

NK Towing owner and founder Amir Iravani, right, with Rick Robnett, accept Assemblymember Marie Waldron’s “Business of the Month” award for January, 2016.

NK Towing & Roadside Services, owned by Amir Iravani, has been providing roadside services to drivers since he founded the company in 2004. Beginning with just one truck, hard work and determination have allowed Amir to grow his company to four locations in Escondido, Vista, Oceanside and Del Mar. Now with over 70 employees, NK Towing has become much more than just a roadside service enterprise.

An Iranian immigrant, Amir has a strong commitment to the military that protects our lives and our liberties. Hailing from a country where many of the freedoms we take for granted are non- existent, Amir is proud to give back to the military and to the community that have done so much for him. As a result, his company has become the number one towing service provider for Camp Pendleton.

Amir’s passion for service has led to support for many local charities and service organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of Greater San Diego, Habitat for Humanity and the Escondido Community Child Development Center. But there’s more. Living up to the company motto, “Safely Home,” NK’s “Tipsy Tow” program has saved lives, prevented injuries and probably helped preserve driving privileges for many drivers. Under this program, anyone in North County who has had too much to drink can call NK Towing at any time and a tow truck driver will come tow the driver and their vehicle home, free of charge.

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. Companies like NK Towing not only provide employment, pay taxes and provide needed public services, but through the commitment of their owners they often become part of the very fabric of our communities. I am proud to recognize NK Towing as my Business of the Month for January, 2016.
