assistanceleagueAutumn Fantasy 2014 was full of surprises this year! Assistance League of North Coast celebrated its 20th annual fundraiser with beautiful opportunity baskets, unique silent auction items, a delicious luncheon, an exciting live auction and toe tapping music including dance lessons. Thematically filled Opportunity Baskets kept guests busy with the hopes of winning cash baskets or baskets filled with local entertainment, dinners, or services. While guests were shopping the tables for great items, music was provided by Sage Creek High School Quartet, directed by Carolyn Sechrist, ALNC member.  Silent auction items included family portraits, art, spa days, jewelry, golf packages and personally prepared meals. Each table was decorated with a beautiful succulent filled basket which was available for purchase at the end of the event.

Monica Dean, Emmy award winning journalist for NBC News 7 served as Master of Ceremonies. Her beautiful smile and support for the programs for ALNC warmed the crowd and encouraged high bidding for the fabulous Live Auction. Auctioneer Mike Watson loosened up the audience with his jokes and antics assisted by Ann Santas who encouraged lively bidding. This year the Live Auction included a registered puppy, a handmade Ukelele ,Charger tickets, Mattuci wine tastings, numerous vacation stays and the popular Firehouse Dinner.

Music was provided by Joe Sands Fontenot Cajun Creole Band. Guests were treated to dance lessons by Pat Muller as the band played lively and toe tapping music. Laughing and smiling dancers filled the floor.  A beautiful and delicious lunch was provided by the chef at Park Hyatt Aviara.

Proceeds from the event go to the 12 philanthropic programs provided to the community by ALNC. ALNC is a volunteer philanthropic organization that supports local students in Vista, Carlsbad and Oceanside. For more information about ALNC programs, visit www.alnc.org. Assistance League is dedicated to serving the needs of children with the goal of providing a positive starting point for academic success.

For the last two years, National Assistance League has won first place in the “Make a Difference Day”event as featured in Parade Magazine. ALNC participated in this event again this year by collecting donations to purchase new books to be given to local school libraries.

Chairperson for this year’s fundraiser was Barbara Bradham. Corporate sponsors and donors provided ALNC with the funds necessary to host this special event. Without the help of supporters and sponsors such as San Diego Business Journal and Union Bank, the event would not be successful.
