At-Your-Own-Pace Indoor 5K Raises Funds for Local Charity Dedicated to Early Detection;

Post-Event Wellness Fair Presented by National Breast Cancer Organization

CARLSBAD, CA. — (September, 2023) — The Shoppes at Carlsbad is hosting The Helen Knoll Foundation for its first ever 5K event on Saturday, October 14 from 7 am until 11 a.m. with an accompanying wellness fair and post-walk celebration presented by the United Breast Cancer Foundation from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.  Registered walkers will do six laps around a designated course inside the Shoppes at Carlsbad to complete the 5K at their own pace and raise funds for early breast cancer screening and detection services supported by The Helen Knoll Foundation.

Based in North County San Diego, The Helen Knoll Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit with a mission to prevent breast cancer by empowering young women through risk awareness education, advocacy and access to age-appropriate screenings.

Event registration is $40, $30 for breast cancer survivors; The first 150 survivor tickets sold are eligible to receive a special gift package from the United Breast Cancer Foundation worth $700.  All tickets include a commemorative #PinkOut microfiber rally towel.

“Whether a seasoned walker or just looking for a fun day out, we encourage all our local residents to come out and lace up your sneakers, don your favorite pink outfits and get ready to make a difference in our community,” said Ramon Oseguera, senior general manager at The Shoppes at Carlsbad.  “We are thrilled to support The Helen Knoll Foundation and host an event all about promoting a healthy lifestyle and raising awareness about breast cancer prevention and early detection,” he added.

In addition to the 5K walk, participants can enjoy a wellness fair presented by the United Breast Cancer Foundation featuring face painting, live music, raffle prizes and more from 11 am until 1 p.m. to keep the festivities going.  All activities are centered around the Carlsbad Wall (lower level near H&M) and Cheesecake Factory entry point.
