– Soulful Expression

Have you ever wondered about a behind the scenes perspective on an exhibit in the Cannon Art Gallery? Curator Karen McGuire shared insights on the exhibit and two of the artists, Duke Windsor and Cheryl Tall.
Here’s an excerpt of Karen’s perspective available now on the Cultural Arts webpage: “It is not an easy task to jury an exhibition. Imagine a table with over 600 images of artwork on it. Then imagine trying to reduce that pile to just 40 artworks. This is what jurors do. And in the process, they not only pick the pieces they find most compelling, they curate an exhibition. They are often faced with the task of choosing just one artwork from a number of delightful treatments of similar subjects, themes or media. It is a great feeling to have work accepted to a juried show, especially if it’s a highly competitive field and the number of submissions continues to rise…”

The 2021 Juried Biennial exhibition runs through August 7.
