Children’s Paradise Appoints Lona Pickle to Chief Operating Officer

San Diego, CA – Children’s Paradise Preschool and Infant Centers (“Children’s Paradise”), a leading early childhood education company with multiple centers throughout San Diego, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Lona Pickle as chief operating officer (COO), effective February 16, 2022.

“I am so pleased to promote Lona into this well-deserved position,” said Julie Lowen, president and chief executive officer of Children’s Paradise. “She is an incredibly well-respected woman and a compassionate leader in our industry, with 20 years of experience, Lona has demonstrated all the qualities necessary to assume leadership of our overall daily operations, system-growth, and lead our company into the future.” 

As COO, Ms. Pickle will continue to guide and strategically augment the range and scope of the Company’s current business strategy. She will also be instrumental in the execution of its long-term growth plans.  Ms. Pickle will cultivate current and future company partners to set comprehensive goals that will enhance the Company’s position as an industry leader.  She will be responsible to build and drive operational practice through system innovation and work with the chief executive officer to implement the strategic vision and values of the company. She will also collaborate with the executive management team, directing and controlling financial resources and budgeting which align with the CPI strategic planning, and expansion processes.

I am honored to be afforded the opportunity to lead this charge, alongside such a dedicated and inspiring president and CEO,” said Ms. Pickle. 

Ms. Pickle joined Children’s Paradise 11 years ago as an infant toddler teacher and was rapidly promoted to preschool teacher, infant toddler supervisor, assistant director, and center director.  This success led her to director of programs and compliance for all the centers at the corporate headquarters.  In this position, she leveraged new technology, and spearheaded the design and implementation of several successful programs, to drive operations and revenue growth, including Early Head Start Childcare Partnership (EHSCCP), California State Preschool Program (CSPP), and General Child Care & Development Program (CCTR), increasing revenue by approximately 200%, and promoting expansion of more than 150%, within a three-year period. Prior to Children’s Paradise, Ms. Pickle held other beneficial early education positions.

In December 2021, Ms. Pickle received a Masters of Business Administration from California State University, San Marcos, which is an AASCB-accredited school – considered to be one of the top business schools in the world. She also holds a Child Development Program Director Permit, the highest-level childhood development permit.  Ms. Pickle has served as a member of the San Diego Child Care and Development Planning CouncilEveryChild California and the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG.)
