City of Escondido Welcomed Special Olympics Flame of Hope

olympictorchOn Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 12:30 p.m. the Flame of Hope, the official torch for the Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015, was be carried through the City of Escondido with a ceremony held at the Kit Carson Park Amphitheatre at 12:45 p.m.


Speaking at the ceremony were Special Olympic Athletes, Torch Run dignitaries and Escondido Police Chief Craig Carter. The City of Escondido  welcomed the Special Olympic athletes and law enforcement officers as they participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run final leg. Law Enforcement officers and Special Olympic athletes were selected by their respected Special Olympics programs to be one of 126 Final Leg Team members based on their dedication and commitment to the Special Olympics movement.
