
Happy 60th Birthday, Vista!
On January 28, 2023, the City of Vista turned 60 years old as an incorporated City! The celebration started before last Tuesday’s Council meeting with cake and refreshments. We will celebrate with different events all year long–stay tuned for details!
Civic Center Drive Widening
As part of the Pala Vista Park project, the City’s contractor has widened the northbound lane on Civic Center Drive between Pala Vista Drive and Postal Way. Striping is slated for this week.

Homeless Resource Fair
The City’s Housing & Homeless Services division will host a Homeless Resource Fair for the unsheltered community on February 10 from 9 am to 2 pm at the Vista Library parking lot, 700 Eucalyptus Avenue.

Little Free Library Ribbon Cutting
The public is invited to attend a ribbon cutting for Vista’s newest Little Free Library on February 9 at 4 pm at Bub Williamson Park, 530 Grapevine Lane, Vista. The Little Free Library project was facilitated by Councilmember Katie Melendez, provided by the San Diego County Library, and is sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club of Vista.
Vista Sheriff’s Valentine’s Day Card Contest
The Vista Sheriff’s Station is holding a Valentine’s Day Card contest for kids aged 13 and younger. Contest participants must live in Vista and can drop off their cards at the station at 325 S. Melrose Drive, Ste. 210 until February 15. The first-place winner will receive a K9 Demonstration for their class at school. Other winners will receive gift certificates to Handel’s Ice Cream, Peppertree Frosty, and Clay N Latte Café.

Vista neighbors, do you have a spare room in your house, apartment, mobile home, or ADU? ElderHelp can help you rent it out! ElderHelp takes care of screening, vetting, and oversight of the entire process. You have the final say on who moves in. If you’re a senior looking for affordable housing, rent a room through ElderHelp’s Home Share program. The average monthly rent is $700. There is an option of providing services in the home to reduce rent even more. Services include yardwork, meal prep, companionship, transportation, or errands.

Reminder: Vista Sheriff’s Coffee with the Community
The Vista Sheriff’s Station will host a Coffee with the Community event on February 2, 8-10 am, at Starbucks, 465 Hacienda Drive. Residents will get to enjoy some free coffee and meet our new Captain. There will be crime prevention resources and swag for the public.

Moonlight Offers Perfect Entertainment to Celebrate Valentine’s Day
The Moonlight Amphitheatre continues its series of indoor cabaret entertainment at ClubM with Gifts of Love: The Love Songs of Stephen Schwartz on February 11. A host of favorite musical theatre performers will sing some of Schwartz’s best-known love songs. A pre-concert dinner is part of the ticket. Stephen Schwartz is one of America’s greatest lyricists and composers who has created some of Broadway’s most well-known shows for over 50 years.
