City Council Meets May 23
The City Council will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, May 23, in Council Chambers at the Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive. Meetings are open to the public, and public participation is welcome.
Public hearing and discussion items include:
- Fees and policies for Recreation & Community Services programs.
- 2022/23 fiscal year third quarter financial report.
- Draft fiscal year operating budgets for 2023/24 and 2024/25.
Presentations include:
- Proclamation declaring June 2023 as “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride Month” in the City of Vista.
- Proclamation declaring May 24, 2023, as “Kiwanis Club Sunrise Vista Day in the City of Vista.”
- 2023 San Diego County Fair presentation.
Meetings are broadcast live on the City’s YouTube channel.
City Scholarship Programs Aid Vista’s Young People
Income-qualifying young people ages 24 and under can apply for scholarships from the City of Vista. Scholarships may be used to pay for a variety of self-improvement activities, including:
- Club fees (Boys and Girls Club fees).
- Registration for summer camps and other recreation programs.
- Water Waterpark tickets.
- Education (tutoring, test preparation classes).
- Youth sports fees (registration fees, uniforms, and sports equipment).
- Visual and performing arts programs (registration fees, supplies, costumes, dance classes, art instruction, music training).
- Job training and employment (registration fees, uniforms, speciality tools and/or clothing, or shoes for a job or on-the-job training).
Payments are made directly to organizations or businesses (which must be located within the City of Vista. Some exceptions apply). Qualifying individuals are eligible to receive up to $1,000 in scholarship funding in a 12-month period. Multiple scholarships may be awarded to an individual, but the aggregate total over 12 months may not exceed $1,000. GET MORE DETAILS
Memorial Day Schedule – City of Vista offices will be closed in observance of Memorial Day on Monday, May 29. City parks will be open regular hours.
Free Shred Event Scheduled for June 10 -The City and EDCO sponsor a FREE paper shredding and e-waste recycling event for Vista residents on Saturday, June 10, from 9 am-noon, at the Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive, Vista. A certified shredding truck will be present during the event, and all items will be shredded onsite.



Movies in the Park Return for 2023! – Get ready for another summer of FREE outdoor movie nights! Produced in conjunction with the County of San Diego, each movie begins at dusk. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics for this favorite Vista Summer tradition!
The Summer Fun Fest will be held before the “Top Gun: Maverick” showing on July 15 from 5:30 pm-7 pm. We’ll have bounce houses, community partners (including the Fire and Sheriff’s Departments), and other FREE activities. GET MORE DETAILS
