Imelda M. Huerta Promoted to Assistant City Manager

City Manager John Conley announced this morning the promotion of Imelda M. Huerta to Assistant City Manager. Huerta has been an energizing presence at the City of Vista since 2000 when she began her career in public service. Most recently, she has served as Assistant to the City Manager and, before that, in other positions in various departments. In Vista, her experience in leading teams includes serving as project manager of the Pala Vista Park construction project (opening later this year) and implementing key initiatives, legislative affairs, team building, and oversight of several staff and divisions. I Love a Clean San Diego’s Coastal Cleanup Day, Sept. 23

The City of Vista welcomes residents to volunteer for I Love a Clean San Diego’s Coastal Cleanup Day this Saturday. Volunteers are sought to help clean up two Vista locations between 9 a.m. and noon. This county-wide event welcomes volunteers to grab buckets and work gloves to make a difference in their community.

Upcoming City meetings include the Youth Advisory Commission, CVBID Advisory Board Special Meeting, and a City Council meeting. All meetings are open to the public, and your participation is welcome.

New Youth Classes Underway

New classes for young people are being offered through the Recreation Division and sign-ups are available. Joining the fall lineup of youth activities are Jazz Hip Hop Combo, Modern Ballet Combo, and Zumba for Kids. Scholarships to those who qualify are available. MORE INFORMATION

Vista Historical Society’s Annual BBQ, Sept. 23

The Vista Historical Society presents its annual BBQ at its museum at 2317 Old Foothill Drive on Saturday, Sept. 23, 3 p.m.-7 p.m. Live music will be performed by “The Ride.” Admission is $30 for adults and $5 for kids under age 10. MORE INFORMATION

Vista Farmers Market

The Vista Farmers Market is open every Saturday year-round at the County Complex located at 325 S. Melrose from 8 a.m. to noon. The market features over 50 farmers selling local, certified, and organic growers with in-season produce. In addition, there are over 40 food artisans that sell fresh bread and other baked goods. Over a dozen makers and crafters attend each week with their soap, pottery, clothing, hats, jewelry, gifts, dog treats, and more. Each week features a variety of musicians and several services.
