City Council to Meet October 24
The City Council’s second regular meeting of the month is tomorrow, October 24, at 5:30 p.m. The meeting occurs in the Council Chambers at the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive. Your participation in person or via Zoom is welcome.

The meeting will also be broadcast live on the City’s YouTube channel.

Public Hearing Items include the following:

1). Kensho Residential Development⁠

2). Tobacco Retail License Cap⁠

Discussion Items include the following:

1). Traffic Operations at the Intersection of N. Melrose and Ascot Drives⁠

2). General Fund Balance Account Review and Reserves Policy Modification⁠

3). Oppose Fixed Energy Charges Authorized in Assembly Bill 205 Energy⁠


Presentations include the following:

1). Proclamation proclaiming the month of October 2023 as “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” in the City of Vista

Halloween Fun this Friday in Downtown Vista

Head to downtown Vista this Friday night, October 27, for spooktacular fun! Come in costume and enjoy trick or treating, tractor rides, an artist market, costume contests, and a haunted house. You can also check out Fire, Sheriff’s, and Public Works Departments vehicles. Except for the haunted house, all events are free. Haunted house tickets will be sold at the event. Step Up Your Sustainability Workshop

The City of Vista and I Love a Clean San Diego present a “Step Up Your Sustainability” free workshop at the Vista Library on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at 5:30 p.m. Participants will learn local recycling rules, zero waste tips, composting, and more! The Vista Library is located at 700 Eucalyptus Ave. For more information, call 760.643.5100.

Fentanyl Community Town Hall

The City of Vista and the Vista Unified School District will hold a town hall discussion on the fentanyl epidemic on Thursday, Oct. 26, from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at the Morris B. Vance Community Room at the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive. Panelists with personal connections to the issue and a group of high school students will lead the discussion on this crisis. Community members, families, and middle and high school students are encouraged to attend.

Youth Basketball Registration

Registration is underway for Fall Youth Basketball. The City of Vista Recreation & Community Services Department is proud to partner with I-9 Sports to provide this popular youth basketball league. I-9 will provide the administrative duties to implement the league, like skills evaluations, team formations, game and practice schedules, uniforms, awards, game officials, gym supervisors, coaches liaisons, and more.

Youth Basketball is open to all young people in grades K – 12. Fees range in price depending on the division played. CLICK FOR MORE INFORMATION

Scare Away Hunger Peanut Butter Drive

The Vista Chamber of Commerce is participating in the Food Bank’s Scare Away Hunger Peanut Butter Drive through October 31. Drop off unopened jars of peanut butter at the Chamber offices, 170 Eucalyptus Ave., Ste. 115 (in the Vista Film Hub building), Monday through Friday, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. For more information, call 760.726.1122.

Dia De Los Muertos at Rancho Guajome Adobe

The County of San Diego hosts its annual Dia De Los Muertos event at the Rancho Guajome Adobe, 2210 N. Santa Fe Ave., on Saturday, Oct. 28, from

10 a.m.-4 p.m. Activities include food, altars, live entertainment, free arts and crafts, and free parking. Admission is $2-$4 (ages 3 and under are free). This is a cash-only event. For more information, call 760.724.4082.

Celebrate 20 Years of Operation Hope

Operation Hope-North County celebrates 20 years of service with its red carpet gala on Friday, Nov. 3, at the Crossings at Carlsbad starting at 4 p.m. Located in Vista, Operation Hope is a year-round shelter offering a safe, caring, and supportive environment to families with children and single women experiencing homelessness. County Issues Appeal for Animal Fosters, Waives Fees for Adoptions

The County’s Department of Animal Services shelters are nearly at capacity and have issued an appeal for volunteers to foster animals temporarily. The County is waiving adoption fees this month on all animals. CLICK FOR MORE INFORMATION
