General Plan Workshops Begin January 29

The City of Vista is excited to host the second series of workshops for the City of Vista General Plan Update – Land Use Alternatives!

These workshops will outline the feedback received from the first workshop series, Establishing the Vision, and how this feedback has influenced changes to Vista’s Land Use Plan. Finally, this workshop will present two Land Use Alternatives for consideration and feedback from the community.

As with the first workshop series, you will have four in-person opportunities to participate. Please note that each workshop will cover the same material.

Workshops Schedule

  • Monday, January 29: Vista Innovation & Design Academy, 740 Olive Ave.
  • Tuesday, January 30: Hyatt Place Vista, 2645 S. Melrose Drive.
  • Wednesday, January 31: Linda Rhoades Recreation Center, 600 N. Santa Fe.
  • Thursday, February 1: McClellan Senior Center, 1400 Vale Terrace Drive.

County of San Diego Launches Program Aiding First-Time Home Buyers

The County of San Diego’s Down Payment and Closing Cost Assistance Program helps first-time home buyers whose income is 80 percent or less than the annual area median income, which ranges from $77,200 or less for a single adult, to $110,250 for a family of four and $145,550 for a family of eight.

Those who qualify may apply to the program to purchase a home in Vista and elsewhere.

The program offers low-interest loans with deferred payments. The loans may be as much as 22 percent of the sales price for the down payment and up to $10,000 for closing costs.

The loan can be used to buy new or re-sale homes, including single-family, condominium, townhome, and manufactured homes on a permanent foundation. The purchase price may not exceed $676,000, subject to periodic adjustments.  READ MORE HERE

Vista Chamber of Commerce’s State of the Community Luncheon, January 22

The Vista Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual State of the Community Luncheon on Monday, January 22, 11 am-1 pm, at the Morris B. Vance Community Room at the Vista Civic Center. Attendees will hear from Keynote Speaker Vista Mayor John Franklin, Vista Chamber Board Chair Zeke Corley, VUSD Superintendent Dr. Matt Doyle, and Dr. Bronner’s President Michael Bronner with updates about our community.
