City Council Meets February 27

The Vista City Council will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 27, at 5:30 pm at the Vista Civic Center. Council meetings are accessible to all, and we invite you to join us and participate in person or virtually.⁠

Agenda items include:⁠⁠

Public Hearings

1). Central Vista Business Improvement District Annual Levy.

2). Substantial Amendment to 2019-20 Community Development Block Grant Annual Action Plan for Reallocation of Cares Act Funding.

Reminder: Register Now for Leadership Academy

The Vista Leadership Academy is a free eight-week program held twice a year. The group meets weekly on Wednesday evenings from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, except for one daytime citywide bus tour. The academy gives residents an up-close look at how the city functions. Enrollment is limited to 20 Vista residents or business owners aged 18 years or older on a first-come, first-served basis.

The Spring 2024 session will run from March 13 through May 8 (no session on April 3).  A graduation ceremony will take place on May 14. Register Here

South Melrose Tree Trimming & Landscape Maintenance Assessment

Wednesday, Feb. 28 at 6 pm

Hyatt Place, 2645 S. Melrose Drive, Vista

Join us to learn about the South Melrose landscaping and tree maintenance plan and proposed fees to fund these ongoing services for the community. City staff will be there to answer your questions. Light refreshments will be served. If you live or own property in the South Melrose portion of Vista, we want your opinions about tree and landscape maintenance.

Townsite Phase II Complete Streets Community Meeting

Wednesday, Mar. 27 at 6 pm

Linda Rhoades Recreation Center, 600 N. Santa Fe Avenue

Your attendance at this workshop could significantly influence the future of traffic safety and infrastructure enhancements in the Townsite neighborhood.

The City of Vista intends to secure grant funding for the “Townsite Complete Streets Project Phase II” project. Gathering community input is a vital aspect of our grant application process. We invite you to attend this meeting to familiarize yourself with the proposed plans and give your feedback. The City will consider and integrate residents’ vision into the project. This is your chance to contribute to actively shaping future initiatives to improve safety for motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians in the Townsite neighborhood.

Free Elder Fraud Prevention Workshop on March 6 ….Seniors are increasingly targeted by scammers looking for financial gain. Learn about common elder fraud schemes, the signs and symptoms of elder fraud, and what law enforcement is doing to protect seniors and prosecute scammers. Find out what you can do to prevent falling victim to these scams and report instances of fraud to local law enforcement. This is a free workshop for seniors, caregivers, and neighbors and is offered by an FBI Intelligence Analyst.
