City Council Meeting Set for December 12
The City Council is set to meet on Tuesday, Dec. 12, at 5:30 pm in Council Chambers at the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive. The meeting is open to the public, and you can participate in person or virtually on Zoom. The instructions for participating are on the agenda below. The meeting will also be broadcast live on the City’s YouTube channel.

District 3 Traffic-Calming Discussion

The City has been holding traffic-calming discussions in Vista’s four City Council districts. The next meeting is for District 3 and will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 13, at 6 pm, in the Morris B. Vance Community Room at the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive. If you’re a resident of District 3 and are concerned with traffic safety for motorists and pedestrians, please attend the meeting and join the discussion with your neighbors and the City. Pala Vista Park Grand Opening on December 16

The City Council will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 16, at 10 am to celebrate the opening of Pala Vista Park, 234 Pala Vista Drive. The City suggests parking at the Civic Center Sprinter Station, 810 Phillips Street, and making the short walk to the park.

Food and Toy Drives Help Those in Need

The City is holding a food drive for the Vista Teen Outreach’s food pantry through Friday, Dec. 15. Food donations may be brought to the Vista Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive, during regular business hours. If you would like a list of requested items, please click here.

Additionally, the City is holding a Toy Drive for its adopted Marine Unit, HMLA-369. Toys must be in original packaging. Gift cards in any denomination are also welcome. Donations may be dropped off at the Civic Center.

Penguin Plunge Returns December 16

Slide into the holidays at the Wave Waterpark’s Penguin Plunge! The Wave’s icy cold slide tower will be open on Saturday, Dec. 16, 2023, from 1 pm to 3 pm for FREE! Those brave enough to take the Penguin Plunge will receive one free 2024 Wave admission ticket, a Plunge Certificate, and a Wave water bottle. To take the plunge, you must be at least 42″ tall. The Wave Waterpark is located at 101 Wave Drive. REGISTER HERE

“Jingle Terrace Live” Through December 23

The City of Vista and the Moonlight Amphitheatre’s “Jingle Terrace Live” features holiday light shows and activities for all ages. Bring your family to enjoy holiday refreshments, festive displays, live entertainment, holiday activities, photo opportunities, and other special surprises. Admission and all activities are free! This annual holiday event is nightly, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. No tickets are needed. READ MORE HERE

Jingle & Mingle at the Senior Center on December 15

The McClellan Senior Center welcomes all for its Holly Jingle & Mingle special event on Friday, Dec. 15, from 5 pm until 7 pm. Enjoy a festive holiday celebration featuring live music by Daniel Newheiser. For more information, call 760.643.5288. This event is free!

Monthly Food Bank Distribution on December 19

The San Diego Food Bank operates a senior citizen food distribution site in the upper parking lot of the McClellan Senior Center (1400 Vale Terrace Drive) on the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 11 am-12 pm. For info regarding the program and eligibility: SanDiegoFoodBank.org or call 866.350.3663.

Winterfest on Main Street Comes to Vista on December 17

Discover Vista, the downtown business organization, presents its “Winterfest on Main Street” holiday event on Sunday, Dec. 17, from 10 am until 3 pm in historic downtown Vista on Main Street and surrounding streets. This festive and free event features live music, Santa, a gift market, a tamale contest, crafts for the kids, tractor rides, and more. You will also get to meet firefighters from the Vista Fire Department. READ MORE HERE
