Vista Turns the Lights On with 100% Renewable Energy Options

The City of Vista is transforming how we power our homes, businesses, and lives. With the introduction of the Clean Energy Alliance (CEA), our community embarks on a journey towards a sustainable and empowered future, marking a significant milestone in local environmental stewardship and innovation.

Empowering Our Community with Choice … For the first time, residents and businesses in Vista have a choice in their energy provider. As of April 1, CEA offers an alternative to staying with the traditional utility, San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E). While CEA will now purchase energy for our community, SDG&E will continue to ensure reliable delivery of this energy to your home, maintain the power lines, and manage billing. This change represents a shift towards local control and renewable energy without altering the reliability and convenience we’ve come to expect. If customers wish to return to SDG&E, they will have 60 days to do so.

Investing in Our Future … As a not-for-profit entity, CEA is uniquely positioned to reinvest any excess revenues directly into our community. This means that the proceeds from our collective energy use will fund innovative energy initiatives, including microgrids and community solar projects. It’s an opportunity for our energy dollars to do double duty—powering our homes today and paving the way for a greener tomorrow.

A Commitment to Clean Energy

In a bold commitment to sustainability, CEA guarantees that a minimum of 50% of its power supply will come from renewable sources, with a roadmap to reach 100% renewable energy by 2035. This progressive energy portfolio reduces our environmental footprint and aligns with our community’s values and vision for a sustainable future.

CEA customers will have multiple options for their renewal energy levels at different price points:

  • Clean Impact: 50% Renewable and Carbon Free
  • Clean Impact Plus: 75% Carbon Free, 50% Renewable
  • Green Impact: 100% Renewable
  • Personal Impact: Program for Solar Customers

You’re Invited: CEA Virtual Town Hall-As we welcome CEA to Vista, we reinforce our commitment to sustainability and community investment. We want to involve the community in this process and ensure we can answer any questions and concerns. Please join CEA Staff and Leadership for a virtual Town Hall on Zoom. Monday, April 22, 6 pm
