Deadline for Youth Art Exhibition is December 27
Civic Gallery’s Exhibition Welcomes Submissions from Students

In the Vista Unified School District for display at the
Civic Gallery January 9 – February 17, 2017

Vista, CA The Public Art Commission reminds students that the deadline to enter its Youth Art Exhibition is December 27, 2017. The mixed media exhibition is scheduled for January 9 through February 17, 2017 at the Civic Gallery located inside the Civic Center. The exhibition is open to all students in the Vista Unified School District with prizes for first, second, and third place in the following age categories: K – 2, 3 – 5, 6 – 8, and 9 – 12. The theme of the exhibition is kindness and works need to be 8” X 10” horizontal or vertical. Examples of media include drawing or painting on canvas or other material, a photograph, or something that is textural or a collage. The gallery will provide frames for works that are selected for the exhibition. There is a $5 submittal fee due with entry. If the fee is a barrier to participation, contact the City of Vista for consideration of waving of the fee. An artist statement of ten to 100 words should also be submitted. Students should submit a digital image of their work and their artist statement through the online form at vistaart.org.

“Vista has so many talented young artists. We hope they will take advantage of this opportunity to have their work exhibited publicly,” said Rachel Beld, the City of Vista’s Management Analyst for the Public Art program. “The kindness theme can be conceptualized to whatever the student feels kindness is. For example, being kind to others, to animals, or to the earth. We are awarding cash prizes of between twenty and fifty dollars in each grade category.”

For more information on the exhibition, call Rachel Beld at the City of Vista, at (760) 643-5265 or visit vistapublicart.com.
