Community Music Day Guitar Exploration Saturday, February 4
Join us for a guitar-themed celebration! Enjoy a variety of activities throughout the day! Whether you play, love, or are curious about guitars, there’s something for everyone!
These activities are “Pay-What-You-Wish” (does not include Museum admission), and are FREE for Museum Members!
For Adults & Older Students:
- Luthier Discussion (1:00 PM – 2:00 PM)
Join an interactive discussion with Zoe Guitars owner and luthier Shawn Weimer.
Shawn has been building guitars locally for many years. He’ll share amazing details about the guitar-making process, including how tonewoods affect the sound of the instrument, how the shape and size of guitar can impact its sound, how sustainability is important to the future of instrument makers, and much more!
For Kids & Families:
- Make & Play (2:00 PM – 3:30 PM)
Using household items, our friends from Studio ACE will help children and families make, decorate, and play their very own uke/guitar instrument. Play your new instrument at the FamilyJam!
- FamilyJam Sing & Strum Along (3:30 PM – 4:30 PM)
Kids, bring your newly made guitars! Adults, bring your instruments and join us for a play-along/sing-along with our special guest, musician, composer, and arranger Bill “Mr. Bill” Kilpatrick!
