Saturday, May 14th 2016 VUSD in conjunction with Early Enrichment Systems, and several other local partners, held their 2nd annual Early Childhood Education Fair. There was representation from every elementary school in Vista Unified along with several from non profit organizations, and community partners.
This fair was to bring awareness to the forefront about the importance of high quality early childhood education. VUSD has committed to opening several new affordable pre-schools in the district to keep up with the demand and need for quality early education services. Studies have shown that in the long run children who attend a high quality early education program, perform better in school, are less likely to commit crime, will out earn their peers by almost 33%, AND for every dollar the government invests in early childhood education they save $12.00. This fair was well attended and the message was presented to the community loud and clear.
Speakers included; Superintendent of VUSD Dr. Devin Vodicka, President & CEO Of EES Robin Layton, Mayor of Vista Judy Ritter, VUSD Board Member Carol Harrera, VUSD Director/Lead of Family Engagement Jacqueline Bispo, President of the Del Norte Council PTA Joe Green, Director of Innovation Dr. Matthew Doyle, and Assemblymen Rocky Chavez.
