El Camino’s Chris Brown Ready For 2020 Football Season With Cal Bears

Willauer-Contributing Writer-Friday, October, 2020– In the city of Berkeley, CA known for long time radio football announcer Joe Starkey, the Big Axe Rivalry with Stanford,  the late Coach Pappy Waldorf, QB Joe Roth, RB Chuck Muncie and QB’s Joe Kapp, Aaron Rodgers Jarred Goff and RB Jahvid Best, former El Camino Wildcats alum Chris Brown knows what it takes to go to the next level in the Pac 12 conference.

While at El Camino under head coach Mike Hobbs, Chris Brown in his senior year had 3249 career yards rushing on 529 carries and led the Wildcats to their first ever CIF San Diego Section Playoff title in 18 years where they defeated Eastlake by a 20-10 score at Southwest College where they finished with an 8-6 record. 

In the CIF State playoffs the Cats were defeated by Crenshaw 13-10.  Along with football, Chris Brown lettered in track and field.

 “Playing at El Camino was such a great place with a lot of friendships I have made and memories that will lasts a lifetime. We had a great season for our football program as we defeated Eastlake for the CIF San Diego Section title 20-10 .” said Chris Brown 

In 2018 the Wildcat alum decided to go to Cal Berkeley known for their academics and football, as he contributed off the bench. “I decided on majoring in psychology I need to complete the requirements before I enter my field.” 

In 2019 the former El Camino alum knows what it took for him to start at running back for the Cal Bears as he led the squad with 914 yards, 1259 multiple yards 8 rushing touchdowns. In the Big Axe Rival game with Stanford, Cal won in Stanford Stadium by a 24-20 score, their first win at Stanford since 2009) as Bears quarterback Chase Garbers scored on a 16 yard run and Chris Brown (18 carries for 54 yards)  scored on a 7 yard run to tie the game at 7-7.  

In the Red Box Bowl that was played in Santa Clara, CA home of the San Francisco 49ers, Chris Brown scored on a 3 yard touchdown pass from Chase Garbers put the Bears up 21-10 over the Fightin Illini of Illinois.
 “I feel confident and have improved with my running.”  “Cal Memorial Stadium is high energy and you feel the atmosphere in the air with a lot of fans full of intensity is  astronomical.” 

For the Big Axe Rivalry at Stanford where Cal won 24-20 that game was intense their place was huge (Stanford Stadium) my offensive line did well opening the holes for me as I scored the 7 yard run to tie the game at 7-7 in the last minute of the first period. Justin Wilcox a hard nose always a winning special coach.
