Greetings friends, Purple Pig Pasta Party The Vista Elks Annual Purple Pig Fundraiser is history! The Spaghetti Dinner prepared by PER James Leitholf was so delicious, as usual, and the servers from the Girl Scouts did an excellent job! Thank you, girls. The visit by the therapist was informative and positive. We didn’t have a poster child, but we were reminded of the importance of the work funded by the Purple Piggy Banks and dinners like this one helping so many children. Thank you, Vista Lodge members and friends, for all your generosity. Our thanks to Diane Phillips and her team for giving our lodge such an event, whereby, collectively, our lodge came together to raise funds for the children. There was no special goal set this year because we are still recovering from the pandemic. Look for the final numbers of donations in Diane’s report coming soon. Bingo Just a reminder that Vista Elks is looking for volunteers to set up and operate Bingo. If you like Bingo and can serve on the Leadership Team, please call the office. Tuesday Dinners Our Tuesday night dinners at the Swim Step Bar have become quite the weekly event. The food and entertainment are really good, and there is a sweet spirit there. If you haven’t tried it yet, do not hesitate another week; come join in and have a great meal. Dancing is encouraged! Stand Down The Veteran’s Stand Down is just around the corner. This 4-day event (October 19-22) is held at Green Oaks Ranch, and reports from past volunteers indicate that this is a “do not miss this” event. If you love to help veterans, serve food, and hand out needed items, then please call the office to join the team. GER Theme The Grand Exalted Ruler’s theme this year is, “Promoting Elkdom With Enthusiasm!” Bruce Hidley, along with his wife, Helen, asks us to initiate a record number of members. So let’s try to grow first, remembering that our communities need us. B.P.O.E has a secondary meaning; “Best People On Earth”, which translates as “Elks Care, Elks Share.” Our lodges offer hope and strength. Through our Elks National Foundation (ENF), we offer a number of grants. These grants go a long way toward helping youth, veterans, and community members in need. Thank you, Vista Elks Lodge 1968, for all your generosity, both in giving and through volunteering. Thank you, ER Dave S |
