| Are you half-hearted in your love…for Family…for Country…for God…for our Lodge? It was Solomon who built the Temple for Jehovah to dwell in. He is known to be one of the wisest leaders in all of history. His son, who followed him as King, did not follow him when seeking counsel; he chose the foolish counsel of his contemporaries rather than listen to the wisdom of the older generation of his father, raising already very high taxes, thus discouraging the people. Rehoboam divided the Nation of Israel because he had a divided heart, sending Israel into decades of turmoil and judgment. If one has a divided opinion, his words and actions promote division, not peace. It might be that he is relying on his own strength, rather than seeking the Lord. Listen, the more a person takes the needs of others to heart, the more he or she will take his or her own heart to the Lord. As members of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Vista Elks Lodge #1968, let’s swiftly move past just enjoying ourselves here at our Lodge (which is good), to remembering in our culture today, the needs of others are growing leaps and bounds. Let’s keep our eyes on the reason why we are here, still having good times, but earnestly seeking to maximize our efforts to raise funds to help those in need. Mother’s Day is May 8th!
